LA -> Morocco -> Egypt -> Turkey -> LA
by Elena Levon
My whole being gets drunk from this song …
There will be a plane visiting LAX tomorrow that has my name on it..
I always get into my ” quiet happy ” state and become insanely zen before my departure…
Really want to learn to be this way, when I’m not on the road.. But it’s not an easy task for such a gypsy heart and for someone who has changed 7 apartments in the last 8 or so years …
I get an adrenalin rush every time plane takes off and lands..
Addicted to new experiences?… no, even this doesn’t fully explain it..
Have a hard time settling down.. with anything and anyone ? Maybe..
I’d rather experience travel & life by myself then with a big group… don’t like big groups..
That’s why perhaps I adore dancing when there’s barely anyone on the dance floor.. just letting the music take me away…
What is wrong with me? Amazing life, amazing man, amazing home, have palm trees outside my window, live 15 minutes from ocean, 30 minutes from gorgeous mountains and almost permanent blue sky …
Yet, every now and then, get this incredibly strong urge to pack and leave… and no, it’s not because I haven’t seen every country in the world.. afraid I’ll be doing the same thing even after that..
I know there must be some kind of a 12 step program out there for unstable souls like me … please do let me know if you know of such a group… maybe we can even attend one together… bring a passport ; )
What would it be called ? Travelholics anonymous or Newholics anonymous ?

March 27th I will turn 28… ( will have to update my ” 27 Things “ when I get back ) and no, I wont be wearing any shoes with red soles, ( if I ever wear those, please kill me ) have salon done hair, somewhere in Vegas in my limo…
… I’ll probably be stuck somewhere in the deepest sands of Sahara, barefoot, dancing to drums and pouring wine into a cup that’s supposed to hold mint tea …

If you try to get an airfare from US to all those 3 countries and back, it will cost you somewhere from $ 5K – 6K ( economy class … )
I got all of my tickets for $ 1700 …
with no agents or agencies …
( they will never be able to find you the best price… it’s simply not profitable for them )
Thank you to my amazing Mr. Bond for this spectacular Birthday present! I’ll take those tickets over stones aka diamonds and a bunch of cloths aka clothes anytime!!
If you would like to know how to purchase plane tickets and not break the bank,
Read this post on How To Save While Traveling The World.
I would also recommend Momondo website for cheap fares & Vayama.com

Be back soon …
Until then…
Road, Adventure

Magic …
Buon viaggio Elena. Not to worry…..I feel my restless soul has led me to explore many paths. No career, lots of different jobs offering varied experiences and lessons learned. I tell my husband that at least I am constant (and stable) where it counts — being married 35 years, two wonderful children and their spouses.
There is too much to do and experience in this life to only choose one thing. You go girl. Enjoy!!!!
Have a wonderful trip and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Enjoy your travels and thanks for sharing the links… I definitely need to find more affordable options for travelling
Nice!!
Glad to know that I’m not ill – there are many living beings (or blogger should I say) who are like me!!! Would love to see more pictures…
Thank you so very much for all of your amazing comments and Birthday wishes! I’m blessed to have such a unique and diverse group of friends!
love, light & happiness to all of you!

I wish you a safe and nice journey.
And those 3 countries are great to visit each of them. I’ve been in Turkey and now my daughter will soon move there with her Turkish boyfriend, so now I am coming back there soon again!
I am 57 and have always had this nomadic feeling, though I have only traveled for longer periods periodically in between.
Looking forward to seeing photos from your next trip!
I used to feel guilty about my constant need for change and excitement. I would marvel at friends or acquaintances who held down the same job for 7, 8, 9 years, when I begin to tire of the same ol’ daily routine within a year’s time.
Then I realized that wanderlust is something that makes me special and different from my friends and colleagues. Of course the whole would probably fall apart if everyone were like this…but they’re not, are they?
Embrace who you are and what makes you unique. Get on that camel and ride!
So excited for you! I totally understand the joy of flying. I too have a very happy, exciting adreniline rush when the plane takes off and I do so enjoy the energy of airports! I think it’s the love of change… I love to be in constant motion, to see, taste and experience all things new and awesome! Have a great time.
Thanks for this post, it woke up a part of me that has been dying to come out and play!
Glad it did..
ps – adding you to my links

Oh my goodness, thank you!
Have a great day.
Enjoy your travels …
Thanks for the links. I’m always on the lookout for great fares. Isn’t travel wonderful? Safe trip and looking forward to the pics.
I get those strong urges to “pack and leave” too. I need to join travelholics anonymous with you! Oh, wanderlust!

This is always inspires me reading your blogs. Its amazing to know there are people out there who just like to travel. it stirs something within me. do you have email? would be cool to ask you more stuff…
You are such a perpetual wanderer. Can’t wait until you come back and tell us about your mystical adventure!
Your gypsy soul makes you a very interesting and unique voyager. A fearless passion to live life, experience life, in ways many of us only dream of. It’s that gypsy soul that makes you Elena – a fun loving explorer with a talent to truly be free.
Wishing you a fabulous birthday, safe (but adventurous) travels, and look forward to see what you’ll share on your return!
Best wishes!
Ha, I know exactly how you feel. It’s good to know I’m not alone. I’m leaving Sydney today for a farm about 7 hours up the coast. It’s a(nother) new friend’s dad’s place and it’s his birthday so it’s supposed to be a weekend of horse-riding and quad biking… but I sprained my ankle skateboarding yesterday so we’ll see how much I can manage! Always moving on, but always happy with that special feeling of exhilaration I get from venturing into the unknown. Just got to work out a long term plan to finance this existence. But I think I’ll find it. Thanks for the post!
Nomadics Anonymous? I’m a card-carrying member myself!
Enjoy North Africa!
I will (also) take flight tickets over hard rocks any day! Have a great time and tell us all about it when you come back
well..before our baby boy, we didn’t really care where and when we had to go, we just appreciated every place no matter what. now..we are in 3, and we always worry if our son will adapt where we go..but children don’t really make a difference, they just love being anywhere outside with all human beings! we’re wondering how he’s going to study in some years, if we’re always on the road..but we’ll see on the way getting there!
i hope you liked Turkey! it’s a nice country, I haven’t been to Africa yet. and an early – Happy Birthday!!!
Hugs!
My birthday’s the 27th, too! Happy few-days-early birthday! I’ll turn 29 on Tuesday and I know just how you feel. Travel safe and enjoy your trip! -Kay@Twisted Travelogue
Have a wonderful time! Hope to see you in Egypt!
Have a great trip and happy birthday, from a fellow Aries
I don’t think wanderlust can be tamed, thats what makes it so exciting. I envy your travels and hope to do the same very soon! Have a great trip!
agree.. it can not..
Looking forward to your pics…
I admire the presence of a restless soul in you amid the hectic schedule expected to someone like you. Let’s not mention the obvious since you made it clear that way.
Anyhow, thanks for giving us a glimpse of what’s gonna keep you busy for the next few weeks (or days, or months?).
There’s no better buddy on the road than a that thing on your eyes. It may be just another toy or gadget to some but in reality, they do more than that. We owe those lenses a LOT. As in a lot for they are the very thing that makes our travels tangible and appreciated across the universe.
Have a safe a journey, young miss, and don’t forget to take extra care of the lens because it brings magic.
I can’t wait to hear about your adventures…please share…
You are blessed to have the world at your doorstep. I travel the world at night when I am sleeping, during the day I follow you – love your blog and thanks for following mine. Do me a favor – when you report the sights and sounds of your travels – send us a whiff of the aromatic delights too. Happy trails – Aromatically Yours!
Sending it your way!
: )
