LA -> Morocco -> Egypt -> Turkey -> LA
by Lena
My whole being gets drunk from this song …
There will be a plane visiting LAX tomorrow that has my name on it..
I always get into my ” quiet happy ” state and become insanely zen before my departure…
Really want to learn to be this way, when I’m not on the road.. But it’s not an easy task for such a gypsy heart and for someone who has changed 7 apartments in the last 8 or so years …
I get an adrenalin rush every time plane takes off and lands..
Addicted to new experiences?… no, even this doesn’t fully explain it..
Have a hard time settling down.. with anything and anyone ? Maybe..
I’d rather experience travel & life by myself then with a big group… don’t like big groups..
That’s why perhaps I adore dancing when there’s barely anyone on the dance floor.. just letting the music take me away…
What is wrong with me? Amazing life, amazing man, amazing home, have palm trees outside my window, live 15 minutes from ocean, 30 minutes from gorgeous mountains and almost permanent blue sky …
Yet, every now and then, get this incredibly strong urge to pack and leave… and no, it’s not because I haven’t seen every country in the world.. afraid I’ll be doing the same thing even after that..
I know there must be some kind of a 12 step program out there for unstable souls like me … please do let me know if you know of such a group… maybe we can even attend one together… bring a passport ; )
What would it be called ? Travelholics anonymous or Newholics anonymous ?

March 27th I will turn 28… ( will have to update my ” 27 Things “ when I get back ) and no, I wont be wearing any shoes with red soles, ( if I ever wear those, please kill me ) have salon done hair, somewhere in Vegas in my limo…
… I’ll probably be stuck somewhere in the deepest sands of Sahara, barefoot, dancing to drums and pouring wine into a cup that’s supposed to hold mint tea …
***
If you try to get an airfare from US to all those 3 countries and back, it will cost you somewhere from $ 5K – 6K ( economy class … )
I got all of my tickets for $ 1700 …
with no agents or agencies …
( they will never be able to find you the best price… it’s simply not profitable for them )
Thank you to my amazing Mr. Bond for this spectacular Birthday present! I’ll take those tickets over stones aka diamonds and a bunch of cloths aka clothes anytime!!
If you would like to know how to purchase plane tickets and not break the bank,
Read this post on How To Save While Traveling The World.
I would also recommend Momondo website for cheap fares & Vayama.com

Be back soon …
Until then…
Road, Adventure
&
Magic …
It just reminds me of what once said Oscar Wilde… “The anxiety is unbearable. I only hope it lasts forever.”
Enjoy your travels and be safe.
My husband, daughters and I have moved a total of 14 times in 25 years…I call it wanderlust…
Safe journey and happy trails.
wow! I love that! : )
let there always be a road!

Enjoy and I know exactly what you mean. Safe travels and happy birthday!
Loving your blog as a fellow travelholic……every ten years I get a very big itch and have to scratch it by taking off on a big one. You have a most refreshing way of sharing your particular addiction. keep it coming.

First of all, enjoy your trip! The Viking and I don’t like groups either; we enjoy traveling on the road alone, away from the crowds… And that wanderlust feeling… We are familiar with that too. Although I love teaching, I am already counting the hours to my next trip…
Cool, you go girl.
Slightly difficult to believe for me still, but I’m into counselling now, as trying to combine the same travelhard nature, with the need for the new, the love of chaos and a family that somehow I picked along the way, that I adore, and never enough money is really not easy. But chomping off big bites of life all the time is always preferable to sitting placidly and quietly letting life go by, so just keep going for it!
Valentina, thank you for such a lovely and honest comment!
I have met so many amazing people here, on this site.. it’s refreshing to be reading everyone’s unique stories!
Thank you for sharing yours,
love & light to you and yours,

Enjoy … your magic and adventure – we will be here when you come back. !!!!!
Enjoy your trip! Skip the 12-step program… traveloholism is – luckily – an addiction that’s good for you! Bon voyage.
Great picture, great song! Safe travels!
Enjoy… live it, love it and experience it!
You are going to have a fabulous time. Happy Birthday and enjoy your wanderlust. I’ll make you a better person.
[…] the mean time…… I stole a link from another amazing woman who travels and she is off on a jet for Morocco, Egypt and Turkey! Tips to travel for cheaper than usual. […]
Have a wonderful trip! I’m so envious. I hop on a plane in 2 days but only to leave Hawaii and land in San Francisco!
We have a second home so when we are not packing up to go there, I travel in my dreams. I love to travel and hope to go to Europe in the fall.
You go girl. Follow your heart you dreams and your passion. When you find the right place, you will know it.
I can live vicariously through you while living with my roots firmly planted in Boulder, CO!
Susie, you are one hell of a character! So glad to have met you!
added you to my links

Thank you so much! I would love that. Just let me know when you blast through on one of your wild adventures!
Have a wonderful time! There’s nothing wrong with wanting to go somewhere by yourself and have wonderful adventures! You are living your story, so enjoy and treasure each moment. :)

I’m in! I know exactly how you feel…i struggle to stay in a city, let alone a home, for more than a year at a time. Happy birthday and have a great trip!
Thank you!
Have a great trip and enjoy the Hamam.
Cheers-
It sounds like you’re just following your heart and there’s nothing wrong with having that take you places. It sounds like you know what you have and you’re grateful too, so don’t be so hard on yourself.
Happy Birthday!
You’re too fabulous to ever apologize for living a life of experience and adventure. Someone wonderful once told me that those of us who struggle with landing and planting ourselves firmly in a specific soil are craved by others who wish they had stronger wings. At 41, I’m still trying to balance out life as a nomad with life in a particular community, but my friend’s comment served to remind me I’m not terrible because I must taste all life has to offer. I, for one, am enjoying living vicariously through some of *your* adventures. Enjoy! Taste! Savor! And safe travels!
Thank you so much!!! Will be coming back to this comment to re-read it

And I will be returning to your blog for inspiration. :)
Some people are just nomads and adventurers at heart. You must be one of them. Nothing wrong with that! It’s actually great. It can be hard to lead a “normal” life, but who’s to say what’s normal and what’s not? :-)
Unstable souls are the salt of the earth…and we should know! Don’t change a thing.
I’d say travelholic…..And there’s certainly nothing wrong with that.
Don’t try and change yourself….just accept it
Beautifully said! I too am a traveling gypsy and feel your love and passion for this world and all there is to see and experience.

That quote on this website is by Elena Levon – me. Give credit or delete it from your blog. Your copies of some of my ideas and text are flattering, but uncool in the world of blogging and so very unoriginal.
Best,

PS – my wish for you, is to find your own voice.. I’m sure you will.
Have a good trip and enjoy your birthday.
Thank you for your clear crisp thoughts they motivate me to grow.

Love your post. Can’t wait to hear about your travels. And have a fabulous birthday!
Im happy to know Im not the only one who feels like this a lot of the time. (I blame my nomadic family… though blame might not be the right word. There is a sense of freedom in the feeling!) Lovely blog, will be back x
Why fight it…. just enjoy!
Sending it your way!
: )
Thank you Bruce! Welcome aboard!
