Volcanoes, Zip-lining, Bribing Police & Swimming in waterfalls in Costa Rica.

” Pura Vida! “
This was an amazing adventure! It’s a gorgeous land which is a home to the most happy, proud and kind people. Ticos ( Costa Ricans ) choose to celebrate life every day and are always grateful for everything they have in their lives. These people treasure human soul above human status, always.
- Sunset/night hike to Arenal Volcano with flashlight and without a guide
- Stayed at the AMAZING! Hidden Canopy Treehouses Boutique Hotel. It is a true home away from home and Jen is absolutely the best hostess I have come across! This is a Hidden Paradise with stunning views of the Gulf of Nicoya.
Be sure to check it out! – I miss it and can’t wait to come there again.
- Did Ziplining at the Original Canopy Tour in Monteverde
- Swam in Rio Celeste Waterfall
- Talked my way out of a $600 speeding ticket and agreed on $60, which went directly into the cops hands.
- Got a free watermelon
- Drove on the road which even locals thought was closed for construction
- Swam in Llanos del Cortez Waterfall
- Had one of the best dinners of my life at the Mar Y Sol restaurant in Playa Flamingo! It’s worth going to Costa Rica just for that! I was speechless.
- Shared breakfast with a Parrot
- Had two visitors at night, that came through my balcony — a pair of Raccoons.

Love your blog!
Don’t just think I’m jealous, Elena- I know I am! (apart from the speeding ticket)
Beautiful photographs. Looks like an amazing holiday
great photos… we spent 3 months in CR in 2010 and loved every minute. got to see arenal spew some lava and did the hot springs and zip lining. thanks for helping me reminisce!
Beautiful picture
Great blog, what a wonderful adventure!
Reblogged this on i cittadini prima di tutto.
Bellissima. I haven’t been to Costa Rica yet.
It’s on my list.
Love this, and especially the photos of Rio Celeste. Must check it out next time I’m in CR!
Beautiful photos :) I like how you’re not afraid to break the rules. That’s where the best adventures come from.
Looks so amazing! Would love to go….Costa Rica is still high on my list. One of these days….
Ohhhh my goodness!!! We were in Costa Rica two years ago and stayed in Flamingo! Mar Y Sol was by far one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at as well! We went there 3 times it was sooooo good!!
I know! it’s amazing! They even reopened the kitchen for me : )
Beautiful photos :). It has been far too long since I went to Costa Rica. We were a bit more focused on traveling the coast for waves, but I would love to check out some of these places if I make it back there one day.
Nice adventure! love the photos.
Thank you for visiting my blog frequently. I am looking forward to your activity.
Well done, nice story! Go on!
beautiful world….

Great story and photos; the pic of you with the drink is priceless! I wonder if you got down to the Osa Peninsula. Hiking the jungle coast there was my favorite from that country.
Thank you for viewing my blog. Loved your account of your stay in Costa Rica and what stunning photos.
Ah, been there on almost all accounts except the police! (My police travel encounter was in Austria!) You describe the Costa Rican highlights to a T!! – Renee
Stunning beautiful photography. Great job.
I lived in Costa Rica for a year when I was very, very young, and would love nothing more than a chance to return in my older age and experience it again. I have some extremely strong memories of trips to Manuel Antonio and (less pleasant) Puntarenas (which trip I have documented on my own blog). Thanks for the reminder of how beautiful a country it is.
How can a hole in the ground be so awesome, had to share this with you
wow!
I can’t imagine what it must have been like anywhere near Mt. St. Helens when it blew. Just look at the trees.
That’s incredible. I didn’t know water from a volcano would turn blue. I’m definitely going to head to Costa Rica to eat at the Mar y Sol Restaurante.
A nice post!!!
[…] The roads are surprising good here. Well I guess all roads are great compared to some in lovely Costa Rica […]
I live in Costa Rica. I have a few pictures of Rio Celeste, I have to look them up :) Rio celeste is wonderful….

Nice. Visited only once, but this makes me want to go again.
