364 Valentine Days
by Elena Levon
I thought this simple piece of paper in my office, my crazy handwriting & a phone camera to capture it all, was much more creative than a Hallmark card with glitter and sappy words all over it… besides, I don’t think Hallmark sells cards with the above statement..
I’m glad I don’t have tv since all I would be hearing these days is the commercial we all know well in US, that goes something like this; ” Every-kiss-begins-with-K .. “ yeah, whatever, so does Kinky-Kitty-Kat-Kamasutra! ( i just made that up )
On a more serious note,
I believe every kind of love, be it between two lovers, friends or family, should be celebrated daily! Instead we wait for them to ~
a) be more like so and so
and / or
b) stop doing or start doing so and so …
and then maybe, after that change, we can start loving them .. huh?
I would like to thank my Mr. Bond for continuing to celebrate our love 364 days, even though we have been together for a long time .. And I mean a long time! (longer than anyone could have ever imagined)
It’s been one hell of a ride and he’s still hanging on .. which is absolutely remarkable because with me, a year is like 10..
Mr. Bond, you are the luckiest man in the world and the unluckiest, at the same time..
I honestly don’t know how you manage to put up with me ( those peeps at CIA should give you a medal ) ,
but today I really want to thank you for …
oo7) Never letting my vases stand empty … ( and no, he doesn’t own a flower shop )

this is what I woke up to on 27th of June 2012 – the day I became a US citizen.
But he’s not the only one, who knows how to surprise …
↓
6) Whisking me away for romantic getaways that turn into amazing, once-in-a-lifetime adventures ~ Costa Rica,
- San Francisco
5) Surprising me with delicious breakfasts, dinners and coffee in bed
4) Inviting me out to Nature instead of a shopping mall, sports bar or a ball game
&
always surprising me with notes, emails, texts, cards, great restaurants and tickets to see some of my favorite artists ~ Placido Domingo, B.B King, Carlos Santana, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Lisa Gerrard, Dead Can Dance, Sade, U2, Prince, Ballet performance from St. Petersburg, Bolshoi Ballet, Opera and countless Theater plays! You always surprise me with the most amazing gifts!
2) Making me laugh to the point of tears
being silly with me
always encouraging my passions ( no matter how ridiculous they might seem to others ) and not standing in the way of my personal journey… even at those times when I choose to walk it solo.

1) Thank you for holding my hand through the good and the bad, for helping me see a different shade of life, not just black or white,
for teaching me to be more patient with people and myself.
Thank you for being patient with me, not trying to change me and not trying to put me in a cage.
Thank you for giving us time apart while we enjoy doing what we love.
Thank you for being comfortable with silence..
We couldn’t be more different and I’ve never been good with plans or “future” ( am I spelling the word correctly? )
but
I want to thank you for Now and for being YOU.
Happy Anti-V day everyone!
I wish all of you 364 Valentine Days in your life!
…it’s ok to take a day off..
..but only 1
love,
EL xo

Oh wow. This is comprehensively wonderful. You are lucky to have found someone who encourages you to experience life. Also, through your photos, you’ve shown that whether with him or by yourself, you remain complete and utterly elated. Happy anti V-day!
Thank you beautiful lady!
Yes, I’m really thankful that he continues to do that..
He’s a remarkable individual with a very compassionate heart.
Jox,
you’re right, I embrace both spectrums with equal joy ; the “togetherness” & “soloism” of being, travel, dining or just seeing a movie.. there’s nothing wrong with that.
This passed Christmas, I went out solo. For some reason a lot of people have a hard time understanding, why would anyone (especially a woman) choose to dine / go out by herself..
and then they completely loose their minds when they see such woman, pretty content in this type of situation and without any kind of “desperation” in her eyes..
To them, it’s mind-boggling… so the question follows ; ” Why?!! ”
And my answer is — why not?

What a beautiful love declaration! It looks like the two of you have found each other. And it’s great to be with a man who gives you personal freedom. BTW, I don’t like shopping either
The definition of a soul mate is my favorite. Thanks for sharing it. I will put it on my post today.
Let’s love everyday like it could be the last one.

Most anti-Valentine rants are negative… this was a very elegant and intelligent response, really enjoyed it
This made my Valentine’s Day…I mean, Anti-Valentine’s Day! I’m so excited to be in love with myself and enjoying such an incredible solo journey right now. People like you are a special part of that.

I can’t agree more with this blog and hope you are encouraged by it today as well. I especially love the quote at the very end. Enjoy and Happy Anti-Valentine’s Day!
What a great post and perspective on V-day. We should all take the time to love each other everyday. You seem to be a lovely person and I really enjoy reading your blog. It’s inspiring!
I love it! I couldn’t agree more with the fact that Valentine’s day might have started with good intentions, but it continues to get further away from the simplicity of true love, more so in the US, where it is the excuse for spending money as a way to show love. It is refreshing to be living in a small town of Extremadura, Spain, where you don’t even get to see Valentine’s Day cards, chocolates or tons of packaged flowers in the supermarkets (there is actually only one here). Happy Anti-Valentine’s Day indeed!
Angie, thank you for your lovely comment! One of my family member’s name is Angie : ) Can’t wait to visit Spain someday… hopefully with my Mr. Bond : )
love,

By the way, I see that in one of the picture you were in Union Square. Hope you had a good time here.

smart man…smart woman…just to be and appreciate that alone is the gift of each other…congrats to you both
Your blog about Valentine’s Day was lovely and so wise. I too have been blessed with a wonderful partner of 38 years who looks for opportunities throughout the whole year to demonstrate his love for me. Perhaps, I could add one more item to your list that hopefully you will be spared. I have been chronically ill for 13 years and then these past two years have survived two bouts of cancer. I see an oncologist next week again for some new possible signs of cancer returning. During all those tough times I have a husband who still makes me believe that I am beautiful, desirable and loved – even when it is 3:00 in the morning when he holds me, whispers to me and even sings to me so that I can fall asleep.
Hello,
thank you for such an honest comment. I got all teary..
You are truly a strong woman and I applaud both of you for holding each other through sickness and health! Unfortunately I haven’t been so lucky myself.. health wise.. I guess sickness doesn’t discriminate with age … and yes, he has held me through it all as well.. I would like to suggest acupuncture for you and try herbs as well.. maybe light yoga and meditation. If you want, I will be happy to send you a great meditation mp3 which is very positive and uplifting and will only take 30 min of your day. Maybe try visiting this site also — http://www.louisehay.com/ I’m sure you’ve heard of this woman .. she cured herself from cancer and a lot of other things.
I wish you all the health and happiness there is and much, much more!
love & light to both of you!
Please stay in touch
ps – Also is good to try and forgive and let go of any kind of pain… all that pain, transforms into sicknesses .. it’s all a journey ..
Thank you for such kind words and such thoughtful suggestions. I am presently seeing a physician who is a specialist in environmental influences on the health and am really hoping I will get some answers. I have tried acupuncture and herbs and they do help to some extent. Yes, I am interested in pursuing meditation as I have been reading how healing this modality can be. I am sorry to hear you have some health issues. We have purchased an infrared sauna since sweating can help release so many toxins that may be interfering with good health. The catch is that presently I have chemicals in my body that are preventing me from sweating! However, perhaps this may be something helpful to you. There is a book that is informative about saunas called Detoxify or Die.
I sent you an email..
